FITNESS & NUTRITION complement each other. To lead a healthy life it's important to take care of both these aspects. While Fitness is all about staying active, Nutrition is about what you eat, when you eat and how you eat.I intend to spread awareness and share with this community all that i have learnt over the years as a Fitness Coach and help people stay fit and healthy.

I’m training for a marathon and want to optimize my nutrition for performance. What should my pre-race and post-race meals look like
Pre-race Eat a balanced meal rich in complex carbs, moderate in protein, and low in fat 2-3 hours before the race. Think oatmeal with fruit and nuts, or a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread. Post-race Aim for a combination of protein and carbs to aid in recovery. Options include a turkey wrap with veggies, a smoothie with protein powder and fruit, or grilled chicken with sweet potatoes and greens.
Na_Dia19d
Post-race meals are crucial for recovery and should include a mix of protein and carbohydrates to replenish glycogen stores and repair muscles. Good options are a protein smoothie with fruits, grilled salmon with quinoa and vegetables, or a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread. Hydration is also key, so don't forget to drink plenty of water.

I'm training for a marathon. What dietary adjustments should I make to support my athletic performance?
Hi there,.I hope you are well. Since, you are training for a marathon, here's what you need to do. -Small out your meals, which means have meals at regular intervals, including mid meals. Have 4-6 meals throughout the day. - Before your practice, add dried fruits, fruits, to your diet. - Your requirements for carbohydrates, protein, and fats is likely to go up. -You will need 60% of carbs ( as this is going to be the primary source of energy), Protein-20% ( this will help in building muscles, recovery, and providing strength throughout. Get your complex carbs such as oats, wheat, barley, broken wheat, and protein sources such as lean meat, dairy, eggs, beans, lentils, nuts, and seeds. - Fats will be 20% to provide satiety, fight inflammation, hormone production, and for absorption of nutrients such as Vitamin D, E, K, and A.Nuts, seeds, fatty fish, eggs, avocado are great sources. - Drink enough water as hydration is important during, in between, and post the marathon. Take care ✨✨

I've been diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure. Can you explain how these conditions might be interrelated through nutrition?
Diabetes and high BP are lifestyle diseases, their precursor is usually insulin resistance. It’s when our diet has a very high glucose load leading to elevated levels of insulin that our bodies eventually become resistant to and as a result, blood glucose levels begin to stay high. Blood sugar leads to a lot of stress on our organs and system. But as with every lifestyle disease, it’s reversible. You can enroll in our three-month functional medicine program to reverse it or at least begin by making these changes As soon as possible: 1. Reduce glucose load by removing sugar, and added sugar, and since you’re already diabetic stop fruits too in all forms for three months. 2. Increase protein intake significantly, aim for 1gm per kg of body weight. And dal, legumes are not protein, they are carbs. 3. Start steady-state cardio and aim to get 200 min a week 4. Make sure you’re having enough healthy fats. 5. Start omega 3 supplements 6. Ensure to get 7-7.5 hours of sleep each night.
Hi there, I hope you are well. Diabetes and Hypertension can occur together in some individuals. Ideally, hypertension can happen in diabetic individuals if the blood sugar levels remain high, and affect the kidneys. An effect on the kidneys can lead to water retention, and may ultimately impact your blood pressure levels. Diabetes and hypertension can happen in people who have - A sedentary lifestyle -obesity -inflammation -unhealthy gut -insulin resistance -oxidative stress. How can you deal with it ? - Add more fresh fruits, and vegetables. - Include anti-inflammatory foods such as fatty fish, berries, nuts, seeds, millets, to the diet. - Reduce your salt, sugar, and oil consumption. - Maintain a healthy weight. - Avoid ultra processed, refined, and packaged foods. - Exercise for at least 15-20mins, 4 times a week ( talk to the doc once). - Include high fibre foods, such as wholegrains, beans, lentils. - Avoid excessive caffeine intake. - Avoid alcohol, and smoking :) Take care.
